• Tennis Elbow or Lateral Epicondylitis

  Tennis Elbow or Lateral Epicondylitisis a condition caused by overuse of the arm and forearm muscles that results in elbow pain. It is caused by either abrupt or subtle injury of the muscle and tendon area around the outside of the elbow. Tennis elbow specifically involves the area where the muscles and tendons of the forearm attach to the outside bony area of the elbow. Typical Treatment includes rest, the application of ice or cold therapy and potentially ultrasound or laser treatment to help reduce pain and inflammation as well as stimulate healing. Manual therapy treatments such as Myofascial Release across the tendon may also prove helpful.

• Golfers Elbow or Medial Epicondylitis

  Golfers Elbow or Medial Epicondylitisis caused by overuse of the muscles in the forearm that allow you to rotate your arm and flex your wrist. Repetitive flexing, gripping, or swinging can cause pulls or tiny tears in the tendons.

• Carpal Tunnel

  Carpal Tunnel or wrist pain may occur when the median nerve becomes pinched due to swelling of the nerve or tendons or both. The median nerve provides sensation to the palm side of the thumb, index, middle fingers, as well as the inside half of the ring finger and muscle power to the thumb. When this nerve becomes pinched, numbness, tingling and sometimes pain of the affected fingers and hand may occur and radiate into the forearm.

  Chiropractic care has been effective in restoring normal joint motion of the wrist and allowing the swelling to decrease thus relieving the pressure against the Median nerve. Ultrasound, Cold Laser Therapy, Myofascial Release of the muscles/tendons involved with wrist flexion/ extension can accelerate healing.

• Plantar Fasciitis

  The plantar fascia is the flat band of tissue (ligament) that connects your heel bone to your toes. It supports the arch of your foot. If you strain your plantar fascia, it gets weak, swollen, and irritated or inflamed causing your heel or the bottom of your foot hurts when you stand or walk.

  Patients whose feet roll inward when you walk due to excessive pronation, have high arches or flat feet, are overweight or wear shoes that don’t fit well or are worn out are subject o plantar Fasciitis. In addition, individuals who walk, stand, or run for long periods of time (like professional or amateur athletes), especially on hard surfaces (like tennis or basketball players or individuals who work in retail) may succumb to plantar fasciitis. Finally runners who develop tight Achilles tendons or calf muscles may experience problems with plantar fasciitis.

  Common treatments include Chiropractic care, Cold Laser Therapy and Custom Orthotics.

• Knee Pain

  Knee Pain can be caused by repetitive stress to the joint with shearing forces of the surrounding soft tissue (cartilage, tendon, ligament, muscles). Knee pain in younger athletes can cause a condition known as Osgood-Schlatters, a disease believed to result from the pull of the quadriceps (those large powerful muscles in the front of the thigh) on the patellar tendons, which run through the knee and into the tibia, to connect the muscles to the knee. When the quadriceps contract, the patellar tendons can start to pull away from the shin bone, causing pain.

  Besides rest and ice, some patients find Cold Laser therapy can help reduce the pain and swelling.

• Golf Related Pains

  Golf Related Pains go far beyond the chronic back pain reported by most amateurs and professionals. The repetitive stress of up to 50 violent swings every 5-10 minutes while playing 18 holes causes pains and creates injuries throughout the body. More than 30% also report pain in their elbows with a smaller number complaining of pain in their hands, wrists and shoulders.

  It is no surprise that the occurrence of pain or injuries in amateur athletes is not much different than pain reporter by professionals. Fortunately Chiropractic Care has proven extremely effective in restoring and maintaining normal joint biomechanics, thus helping to reduce or eliminate the processes causing pain.

• TMJ

  TMJ or the temporomandibular joint is the hinge joint that connects the lower jaw to the temporal bone of the skull. Patients with problems with TMJ may experience pain or tenderness in the face, jaw joint area, neck and shoulders, and in or around the ear when you chew, speak or open your mouth wide. Clicking, popping, or grating sounds in the jaw joint when opening or closing the mouth, which may or may not be accompanied by pain, are not uncommon.

  Chiropractic care is used to assess the motion of the TMJ joint on both sides of the face. If a restriction is present, gentle pressure can be applied in the correct direction to unlock the joint and restore a more normal motion.
